Dematting Policy

We groom humanly at Dandy Dogs.

We will ATTEMPT to dematt  a small amount of coat if we feel that the animal will not suffer discomfort.

However, we will abide at all times by the Animal Welfare Act.
It is the owners duty of care towards their pet to maintain their pets coat between professional  grooms. If the owner fails to attend to their pets coat then in the interests of the animal we will shave off the matted coat to prevent unnecessary suffering.
Shaving the coat is quicker and gentler on the animal. Many animals are traumatised by unnecessary hours of de-matting, putting them off grooming for life.
Customers will be required to sign a dematting/ shaving disclaimer if it becomes necessary to shave your dogs coat off close to the skin due to matting.

There will be a charge applied  if we have to spend extra grooming time  due to matting.
